Del Paso Park Wetland

A major contributor to the recovery of the Arcade Creek Watershed will be the future Del Paso Regional Park Detention and Filtration Wetland Project. Del Paso Regional Park is located at 3565 Auburn Boulevard in the City of Sacramento in the northeast portion of both the city and Sacramento County. Del Paso Regional Park encompasses 83 developed acres (680 total acres) and includes portions of Arcade Creek, picnic areas, walking and equestrian trails, play areas, golf course, a softball complex and restroom facilities. The park spans east and west of Watt Avenue adjacent to Longview Drive, the Capital City Freeway, Roseville Road, and Auburn Boulevard.

This project will help meet the Watershed Group's goals by:

Improving water quality. Dated culverts will be replaced with higher-capacity facilities that help move water more efficiently and reduce or eliminate standing water.

Reducing flood damage. A flow diversion structure and a detention and filtration wetland will help relieve the pressure from high flows on Arcade Creek during storm events.

Improving habitat. Native plantings and the protection of native oaks will provide improved cover for local habitat.

Enhancing recreational opportunities. A footbridge, wetland overlook, interpretive exhibit, and ADA-compliant parking spaces and trails will improve access to and enjoyment of the area.
